3. Unlike the stencils, the anamorphosis drawing was nothing new to me. I had done drawings like these before without having to go the the trouble of changing the scale and perspective in Photoshop. Our class did anyway. After we printed them out we made a grid, and inch apart each line, on both the picture and in our sketchbooks. Then we drew out the picture using the individual squares of the grids. I remeber doing this in elementary school when learning about grids. Then we used colored pencils to color them in, and added values and shadows to make the image look realistic. I think that everyone knows how to do this. The top of the object had to be widened when looking straight down from the top, because if you looked at the image at an angle from the botton, the object in the picture would seem as if it were standing up. Otherwise the top would look small and pinched. I don't know if other people thought this way, but it was pretty obvious.
4. I feel that the game drawing was the least important. This project was done for us to learn about perspective. But we had already done many perspective drawings in class already. We also alreay put our knowledge to use with the drawings of our city and the house. Other than sketching out the drawing, the other steps we used to color it in was not really important. And using the watercolor just made me frustrated. Maybe it's just me but somehow, I've always known how to draw things in perspective. Probably because I sketch a lot at home.
5. Other than working with clay, sketching with pencils is the thing that reflects me the most as an artist. Since I was little I've always loved to sketch. I sketch in sketchbooks, on scrap paper at home, even in the margins of my school notes. I have always worked well with values and shadows. When used right, a portrait can look genuine, like a real photo. Although I mostly draw anime, drawing real people is fine too. I also have an eye for proportions, some drawings of people tend to look disfigured and our of shape, but I never had a problem with that. Having the picture helped a lot with seeing all the different shadows that lights create on the face and in the hair. I wish that we could've spent more time on these sketches, or made a sketch of someone else in the class. I really enjoyed this project and I hope that I will be able to do it again someday.
